The autumn leaves
are changing colours,
brilliant hues of
red, orange and gold.
They fall like tears
onto the ground,
pools of memories
from seasons past.
My mind rewinds
to Fall 2004,
when my world
came crashing down.
A time I'd rather erase
etched forever on my brain.
Thankful time has given me a new perspective,
as if the pain happened in another life.
This new adventure
feels a little lonesome,
though I know
you're always by my side.
With this truth
tattooed on my heart
I venture out into the sea of love
knowing it's my home sweet home.
