Missing Piece

I left a piece of my soul with you
before I entered this life,
hoping it would lead you back to me
when the time was just right.

I've been waiting for quite a while now
you seem to be running late,
but we never set a time and place to meet
so who could be blamed?

It's hard to be patient
but what else could I do?
You're the only one I want
out of the 7 billion to love.

Maybe it's that missing piece of my soul
that fills me with longing.
So if you can feel me out there, beloved
please send it back to me.

Climb inside the envelope
and sail home with me.
You only had a part so far
but soon you can have all of me.

***************
I wrote this on the subway while riding home from another wonderful Soul Tending session with Andrew Carmargo. My iPod was on random and the song that started playing right after I finished (OneRepublic's All This Time) seemed like a direct response from the universe to my writing, which was so SWEET!

Glenerin Dreams

Glenerin Inn
a fond place for me.
Autumn air,
English tea in the afternoon
peaceful, serene.

Transported to another world
where time stands still,
its stone walls full of history
from a bygone era.

Has anyone famous sat in this chair before me?
Who once strolled through the garden?
Did someone think: who would be here in the future?
Probably not, but isn't it an enchanting possibility?

Daydreaming about some distant day
before or beyond me
is a favourite pastime.
Glenerin is the perfect spot
for my imagination to fly free.

***************
I first met Glenerin Inn last autumn when having afternoon tea there with my friend Camilla. It was such a lovely and tranquil setting! Today it entered my universe again when I opened up a random page in Mississauga's Culture Days guide for a poem prompt and the first word I saw was Glenerin. At first I didn't think it could work but this turned out quite charming. :) The last poem of my record 5 poems in a day... woo-hoo!! :D

The Great Wound

I can't imagine why
anyone would inflict
The Great Wound
upon themselves.

Yet here I am
a survivor of this
mysterious choice
still being healed.

I'd like to ask
my former self
why he chose
this path for me?

He might say
so you'll know
that LOVE is here to stay
with you forever & always.

Constant Companion

Lullaby in the evening air
light peeking through the clouds,
I lie still observing the sky
and see spirits masquerading as mosquitoes
dancing in the ballroom above my eyes.

Some try to kiss me
but I resist them,
pulling up my purple scarf
like a shield against their attacks.

Up even higher still
the clouds have rolled in.
The sky turns a gloomy grey
with not a ray of hope for relief.

They decide to linger a while
long enough that they're still there when I rise and leave the scene.
A reflection of the shadow we've been exploring
I know the wind will eventually guide them away.

All we experience is temporary
seasons come and go.
What's lost will be found again
perhaps in a brand new form!

Shadow work will not last forever
yet surely day will turn into night.
Let LOVE be your constant companion
and it will be your guardian and protector
through the highest highs and in the lowest lows.

*********************
This poem was birthed after I attended a Soul Tending workshop by the wonderful Andrew Carmargo. I was a bit fearful about the Shadow work, but it turned out to be a very insightful and rewarding experience! As an added bonus, here is the recipe for the fruit salad I brought to our potluck, which was popular with everyone! :D

Tim's Tropical Fruit Toss (serves 3-4)

3 oranges
2 bananas
1/2 cup raisins and/or dried cranberries
1/3 cup shredded coconut
honey (optional)

Peel oranges and cut in rounds, then place in a large salad bowl.
Chop bananas and add them to the oranges.
Add in the raisins and shredded coconut. Add honey to sweeten if desired.
Toss until well combined. Chill and serve!

Endless Round

Your kisses can't reach me just yet
so you send mosquitos instead.
Yesterday was a love feast indeed
I got all the bite marks to prove it.

In time they'll all fade
and I'll find some other way
to remind myself you're still here
though not quite the way I'd like you to be.

Two snakes entwined together
life and spirit, bound by a divine cord.
The helix and blueprint of creation
a mysterious wonder to experience.

The magic of two becoming one
opposites that attract and repel at the same time.
You and I have been on this merry-go-round forever
me into you, you into me, in an endless round.

Gratitude Entry 32: Birthday Perks

Happy birthday to YOU! It is mine tomorrow, and most people know that I LOVE sharing FREE stuff!!! :D  So I thank the universe for sending these birthday perks my way so I can share them with all of you. :) Even though it may not be today, read on to learn how to make your birthday AWESOME! ;)

The best way to get your day off to a good start is to grab your FREE Regular Size (24oz.!!) Smoothie from Booster Juice. Just sign up to Booster Nation (the camp fire icon on their website) and they'll email you with a voucher to use on your birthday! :)

If you're still hungry, head on to Denny's for your FREE Build Your Own Grand Slam all-day breakfast, just show the proper ID.

For lunch or dinner in Mississauga, try The Big Fat Greek Buffet near Eglinton/Dixie. Bring your ID & one paying adult and you're good to go.

Need that dose of caffeine? Register your Starbucks giftcard or buy one for yourself & register, then they will send you a postcard through snail mail, redeemable for a FREE drink on your birthday.

The coupon I look forward to the most  is the one  from the Apricot Tree Cafe in Mississauga. It's my favourite restaurant and you can join their birthday club here. It's valid for the whole month during your birthday, so you don't need to cram in all the eating in one day! Their desserts and cakes are spectacular, as are the yummy sauces on their pastas and savoury crepes. Great place for a date too! Their sister restaurant Bistro Narra is equally delightful, and you can join their birthday club as well.

Enjoy these fabulous freebies & thanks for being in my life! :) May your birthday be the BEST one yet, followed by even more incredible ones to come!! :D

Inside a Painting

What's it like to walk inside a painting?
Well I've just been,
so let me tell you all about it
and fill you in.

The sky was not all blue
in fact it was mostly grey,
but there was a corner of sunshine
and that made it divine.

The trees were not all green yet
some were bare like skeletons,
but I know they'll all bloom in time,
Mother Nature knows her children best.

The birds flirted with each other
playing catch me if you can.
Love was definitely in the spring air
with new life soon to follow.

A perfect evening walk
on an ordinary Thursday night,
refreshed my spirit
and brought joy to my soul.

With gratitude to the Green Living Show's Health Forum "Your Brain on Nature" for inspiring and motivating me to spend more time outdoors. This poem is the result of your recommendation! ;)

everything everytime everywhere

I have
a terminal case
of
the kissing disease.

I want to
lay a kiss on
everything in sight!

Of course
that would cause alarm
so I hold myself back.

But when no one is looking
guess what I'm doing?
Making out with life.

I can't help it
because love is
everything everytime everywhere.

So don't try to heal me
because soon all will know that
love is the cure.

With gratitude to Trevor Hall for your musical inspiration. Thanks for lending your album title "everything everytime everywhere" to me! ;)

First Blossom

One lone blossom stands
in the flowerbed at my front yard.
She is an early bloomer
but all she feels is alone and out of place
with nothing else around her.

She doesn't know she is loved by all
because her arrival heralds the start of Spring.
A season of growth and renewal
a time of love where new life begins.

So there she continues to stand
waiting for her Prince Charming to arrive.
When all along she is the most captivating one
with the whole world's adoration.

And this is the lovely first blossom in my front yard that inspired this poem! :)

Gratitude Entry 31: (Time) Travelling

Wow, it's been way too long since my last gratitude entry. Since then I've been to Asia and back, celebrated Christmas, New Year and now even Valentine's Day is past! There is much to be thankful for and right now I'd like to focus on the blessing of travelling.

It is a marvel to trust in the mechanics of a plane, that this huge and heavy piece of machinery can float high in the sky and move at incredible speed to arrive at a destination thousands of kilometers away. To me, going to Asia felt like travelling in a time machine, reaching my journey's end at some other dimension that used to be my childhood home. Memories of those years are fuzzy and so much has changed both with the people and surroundings I used to know.

One incredible synchronicity during my trip was running into a primary school friend, Katherine, while my cousins and I were on a Geopark tour in Hong Kong. We hadn't seen each other since we were 10 years old, but she recognized my cousin Tania because they still occasionally meet up. We caught up over the next 3 hours and it felt like I had stepped into a different reality where my friend was now a grownup with her own family. Yes, chronologically speaking we're now all adults, but for some reason, childhood friends still remain youthful in my mind.

Later on during this trip we stayed in Taipei for four days. Again, getting off the plane was like arriving in a new realm: people speaking an unfamiliar dialect, different subway system and customs, crowds almost everywhere and street food heaven! Though it rained daily, the sincere hospitality of taxi drivers, street vendors and hotel staff kept our hearts warm.

I look forward to more travelling adventures ahead wherever LOVE leads! Be it local right here in the city, abroad or even into outer space, I think there are still many more interesting people and places yet to be explored! ;)

Beauty

They all sing I'm beautiful
and I really want to believe them,
but honestly I just don't feel it
even though I think it could be true.

Conditioned to judge everything by appearance
it's hard to shake out of the old standards.
Even though they no longer serve me
I continue to be confined by them.

The way of LOVE
is the path I choose for me.
In its presence
all is made beautiful and free!

As I embody this vibration more each day,
I see beauty reflected everywhere.
Soon I hope my soul will remember
what is mirrored outside also resides within.

***********************
Happy Valentine's Day! Especially to my fellow singletons, remember "Beautiful U R", as Deborah Cox's song below sums up so beautifully. :)

Spot of Blue

You're the spot of blue in the sky
on a grey and cloudy afternoon.
During my drive home
you play peek-a-boo here and there,
my constant companion.

Suddenly the sun breaks through
and I'm blinded by its brilliance.
Is this a preview of what's to come
when we finally meet face-to-face?

For now I'll continue waiting
for the reunion that's long delayed.
If only you were more predictable,
like the first day of Spring!

But we both know I love surprises
so I think that's what's in store.
Please hurry back, LOVE
and be my home once more.
