Momentary Bliss

Today is
the
longest day of the year.
The climax of daylight,
yet just the beginning of summer.

What shall I do today
to commemorate this fine occasion?
As I put pen to paper
there's a group walking
the Toronto Public Labyrinth
in Trinity Square Park.

Too late to join in,
perhaps I'll grab a Mean Mocha later on
or some ice cream after dinner.
Wish I could store the sunshine in a jar
and save it later for a gloomy day.

But holding on to that much energy
could prove to be my downfall.
So I better learn the lesson of letting go
and enjoy the momentary bliss
of the sun on my skin.
